Sandra Fluke to campaign with Elizabeth Warren today as candidates roll out big names

As Election Day nears, Senator Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren are being joined on the campaign trail by prominent people whose message dovetails with their own.

For Brown, that recently meant the endorsement of Boston Celtics Hall of Fame player Bob Cousy. The incumbent Republican has be reaching out to white male voters especially with repeated sports-related appeals.

For Warren, it means today women’s rights activist Sandra Fluke.

Fluke, the Georgetown law student who was barred by House Republicans from testifying at a hearing on access to contraception, has become a rallying figure for those concerned about women’s access to health services. She also addressed the Democratic National Convention.

Warren, meanwhile, has labeled Brown as unreliable on women’s issues after, among other things, voting against the nomination of former Harvard Law School Dean Elena Kagan – an abortion rights supporter – to join the Supreme Court.

Fluke will join Warren at a 10:30 a.m. event in Somerville.
