Country starlet Taylor Swift is in the news nearly as much for her relationship woes as she is for her No. 1 hits. Take a look through our chronological round-up her high-profile breakups, starting with the most recent.

Just a week after she was spotted smooching with Harry Styles in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, Swift and the One Direction heartthrob reportedly split. The pair never commented on whether they were officially an item or not, but the two were seen together several times in Dec. 2012, first after One Direction played Madison Square Garden in New York City, and then in England where Swift celebrated her 23d birthday and Harry got a tattoo.

Eighteen-year-old Conor Kennedy and Swift called it quits in October, according to an Us Weekly source. This may come as a suprise to some after it was rumored that the “You Belong with Me’’ singer bought a house across the street from Ethel Kennedy’s place in Hyannis Port this summer.
Kennedy, grandson of Ethel and Robert F. Kennedy, attended the premiere of the HBO documentary “Ethel’’ on Monday (pictured). “Starlight,’’ one of the songs off of Swift’s recently released album “RED’’ was written about her ex’s historic grandparents, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Although the two have never confirmed it, “The Paperboy’’ star Zac Efron and Swift were rumored to be dating around the time of the release of the Lorax last year. They even stopped by the Ellen Degeneres Show and sang a duet together. Whether or not they were the real deal, there’s no denying the sparks flying between the two.
Efron, who rose to stardom as Troy Bolton in “High School Musical,’’ attended the premiere of his move “The Paperboy’’ (left) in September.
Another short-lived romance, this time with 31-year-old “End of Watch’’ actor Jake Gyllenhaal, may have inspired Swift’s entire new album, according to HollywoodLife.com. The two dated for a few months during the winter of 2010-11 and weren’t shy when it came to public displays of affection on the streets of New York City. Although the whole album may be about him, it seems speculators think her hit single “We Are Never Getting Back Together’’ is totally Gyllenhaal-inspired.
Gyllenhaal has moved on with his movie career since the (final) break-up and starred in this fall’s crime drama “End of Watch.’’ He’s pictured at the film’s premiere in September.
John Mayer may have been the subject of one of Swift’s not-so-poppy songs: “Dear John.’’ He was none to happy about it when it was released in 2010. Mayer, who dated Swift in 2009 shortly after collaborating with the then 19-year-old singer on “Half of My Heart,’’ told Rolling Stone he was humiliated by the song and it’s message.
Mayer recently showed off his generous side by performing at the Love for Levon charity event in East Rutherford, N.J., on Oct. 3.
In a turning of the tides, Swift reportedly broke it off with Taylor Lautner (instead of being the dumpee) in December, 2009. The “Twilight’’ star reportedly liked her more than she liked him. The “Valentine’s Day’’ co-stars were high school sweethearts in the film and carried the romance off set for two months before Swift pulled the plug.
Lautner has been touring the world, promoting the second installment of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,’’ most recently in Rio de Janeiro (pictured) on Oct. 24.
Capping off the shaggy brown-haired, chiseled-face list is Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. Swift’s first famous boyfriend broke up with her in a notable “27-second’’ phone call in 2008. She was less than shy talking about it on the Ellen Degeneres Show.
Jonas (left) served as a mentor on the CW music talent show “The Next’’ this fall alongside Gloria Estefan, Nelly, and Jon Rich.
Now that your brain is full of speculation, take a second to chuckle at Ellen Degeneres’s attempt at getting Swift to squeal about her famous exes.
If nothing else, the country-pop star sure has fun singing about these guys, as depicted in this Sept. 22 photo of her on stage at the 2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
