Two teenagers charged in attempted robbery in South End

Two teenagers were arrested in connection with an attempted unarmed robbery in the South End last night, Boston police said.

Dontana Bryant, 17, of Boston, was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery while a second male suspect whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, was charged with delinquency, to wit, unarmed robbery. A third suspect was identified by police but later released.

The three suspects allegedly rode up to a man on their bicycles in an alley between West Brookline and West Canton streets and attempted to rob him, according to police.

The victim told the teens he was not going to hand over anything, and attempted to walk around one of the suspects, who dropped his bicycle and chased the victim on foot, police said.

The other two suspects also ran after the victim for approximately half a block before retreating, and the victim was able to call 911, police said.

The victim provided police officers with descriptions of the suspects and within a few minutes they were able to locate the teenagers, who then fled in three directions on foot, according to police. The teens were soon apprehended by police.

Two of the suspects were positively identified by the victim and their bicycles were seized and held as evidence, police said.
