A car fire on Interstate 93 South near Savin Hill during rush hour snarled traffic for commuters, the Massachusetts Department of Transporation said.

The fire was reported just after 4 p.m. The car was removed from the area around 4:40 p.m., said transportation spokesman Michael Verseckes. The fire blocked the two right lanes of traffic.
