Fire breaks out in tailpipe of Boston-Baltimore flight

A JetBlue plane that had flown from Boston to Baltimore had a small fire in its tailpipe when it reached its gate this morning at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, the airline said.

The local fire department decided to put out the “small flame’’ with foam, the airline said in a statement.

The fire was discovered at 11:18 a.m. on Flight 1329, which had 84 passengers aboard, the airline said.

“Customers deplaned the aircraft normally,’’ the airline said.

No injuries were reported, an airline spokeswoman said. The plane was taken out of service.

FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac said the fire was reported by the pilot in the left engine of his Embraer E190 when it was parked at the gate.
