Nearly 300 motor vehicle citations were issued and 13 drunken drivers arrested on Route 24 and Interstate 195 on Friday and Saturday night by extra patrols deployed by Massachusetts State Police.
The two-day surge came a few months after a successful increase in patrols on Friday and Saturday nights in August and September.
Troopers also arrested eight individuals for crimes other than operating under the influence, and issued nine criminal summonses, State Police said.
Among those given tickets were several drivers clocked by troopers driving at high speeds, including one driver stopped on I-195 for going 125 miles per hour, who was then arrested for an active warrant.
A man who was was seriously injured when he crashed after driving the wrong way on the Braga Bridge on Friday will be summonsed to court for an OUI charge, State Police said.
“We are most thankful that there were no fatalities on the roads’’ around the state, said State Police spokesman David Procopio, noting that there were eight fatalities across the state during Thanksgiving week last year.
