A man was taken to the hospital this morning for evaluation after he drove his minivan into a building that houses a laundromat and dry cleaner in South Boston, the Boston Fire Department said.

The one-story building on L Street was damaged around 11 a.m.. The minivan cracked the brick veneer siding during the impact, said Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald in an offical tweet.

Firefighters sawed through the brick veneer material and found that the minivan was resting against gas lines for the clothes dryers, MacDonald said.

The driver was taken by Boston EMS to an area hospital.

No other injuries were reported, said MacDonald. No further information was immediately available.
