Laurent Rivard sank five 3-pointers and scored a season-high 19 points to power Harvard to a 67-62 win over California Saturday night in Berkeley.
Rivard finished 5 of 12 from beyond the arc, Wesley Saunders added 18 points, and Siyani Chambers handed out a career-high nine assists as the Crimson improved to 7-4.
Allen Crabbe scored 27 points for the Bears (8-4).
Harvard hit 10 of 27 3-pointers while shutting out Cal (0 for 6) from long distance.
UMass 64, Northern Illinois 59 — Maxie Esho scored 14 points and the Minutemen held off the Huskies in Dekalb, Ill., for their fifth straight victory.
Chaz Williams added 12 points for UMass (8-3). Abdel Nader led Northern Illinois (2-10) with 15 points.
UConn 61, Washington 53 — Shabazz Napier scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Connecticut (10-2) past visiting Washington (8-5).
Omar Calhoun led UConn with 14 points, helping the Huskies to their fourth consecutive win.
UAB 83, Northeastern 63 — Preston Purifoy and Terence Jones scored 17 points apiece to lead the host Blazers (7-6) past the Huskies.
Northeastern (5-7) led, 15-10, with 13:49 left before halftime, but the Blazers scored the next 12 points and never trailed again.
Quincy Ford had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies and Reggie Spencer added 13 points.
BU 71, Howard 44 — Dom Morris scored 17 points and D.J. Irving added 14 to lead the Terriers to a blowout of the Bison (3-12) in the consolation game of the UCF Holiday Tournament in Orlando.
Freshman Maurice Watson Jr. added 11 points for BU, which heads into America East play with a 6-7 record.
College of Charleston 62, Vermont 50 — Andrew Lawrence scored 21 points and the Cougars (8-4) pulled away to beat the host Catamounts (7-5), who were led by Clancy Rugg’s 11 points.
Maine 76, Quinnipiac 71 — Justin Edwards scored 26 points and Alasdair Fraser had 14 points and 11 rebounds as the visiting Black Bears (5-8) got past the Bobcats. Ike Azotam finished with 16 points for Quinnipiac (4-7).
Bryant 80, Lehigh 79 — Alex Francis finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds and Frankie Dobbs’s layup with two seconds left boosted the visiting Bulldogs (7-4) past the Mountain Hawks. C.J. McCollum led Lehigh (9-3) with 34 points.
Colorado 80, Hartford 52 — Josh Scott scored 21 points, Askia Booker had 19, and the host Buffaloes (10-2) led from start to finish in beating the Hawks. Evan Cooper had 14 points to lead Hartford (7-6).
St. Peter’s 71, Central Conn. 69 — Patrick Jackson hit the winning jumper with 11 seconds left to rally the visiting Peacocks (6-6) past the Blue Devils. Adonis Burbage scored a career-high 25 points for Central Connecticut (4-6).
Fairfield 55, Old Dominion 54 — Maurice Barrow’s layup with 1:12 left put the visiting Stags (9-5) ahead for good in their win over the Monarchs (2-11).
Holy Family 76, Assumption 74 — Terrance Bobb-Jones scored 22 points but Ervin Erzil’s steal and layup with six seconds remaining in overtime lifted the Tigers (6-6) past the Greyhounds (8-2), ranked 13th in Division 2, in the final of the East Coast Classic at Stonehill College in Easton.
