It appears that “Labor Day’’ — the Kate Winslet
Josh Brolin
movie that filmed west of Boston this summer — is just about finished. In an interview with, Brolin (inset) — who’s now promoting “The Gangster Squad’’ with Ryan Gosling
— said, of the Jason Reitman
-directed “Labor Day,’’ “I actually see the movie on Tuesday, I believe. I see the first cut of the movie on Tuesday, which I know several people have seen it, they’re very happy with it. I know he’s very happy with it. I know it’s tonally very different for him and I’m excited, man. I’m nervous, but I’m excited.’’ “Labor Day’’ is based on the novel of the same name by New England author Joyce Maynard
. . . . In other local movie news, “The Way, Way Back’’ — the film starring Steve Carell
and Toni Collette
that filmed south of Boston over the summer — will get its debut at the Sundance Film Festival. That’s a quick turnaround for the drama, which was still shooting scenes at the Water Wizz in East Wareham in June. The movie was written and directed by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon
, best known for winning the Academy Award for adapted screenplay for “The Descendants.’’ Faxon, who’s also on the Fox comedy “Ben and Kate,’’ hails from Massachusetts.
