Sixteen adults and two children are homeless following a three-alarm fire in Brockton early this morning, the American Red Cross said.

The Red Cross sent volunteers to a fire at 33/35 Park St. in Brockton at 2:55 a.m., where the 18 people fled the building in their pajamas, spokeswoman Ashley Studley said in an e-mail. The building appears to be a three-story multi-family residence.

The city of Brockton bused those displaced by the fire to a hotel. Red Cross volunteers provided food and clothing, along with toys for the children.

No further information was immediately available.
