Shoe retailers gear up to open new stores at South Shore Plaza

A list of new stores set to open at South Shore Plaza suggests the large Braintree shopping center is intent on cementing its reputation as a shoe-shopper’s paradise.

CALL IT SPRING by ALDO, Vans, and DSW Shoe Wearhouse all sell footwear, and all are set to open soon at a roughly 200-store mall anchored by Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Sears, Nordstrom, and Target.

CALL IT SPRING is scheduled to open in March, and it will be “home to the latest footwear and accessories that offer up to the minute trends that are easy on the pocketbook,’’ South Shore Plaza said in a press release.

, meanwhile, caters to “style-conscious women and men who appreciate value,’’ the release said. DSW is set to open in March, and it will do business in space once occupied by a Filene’s Basement. (The photo with this post was taken from DSW’s website.)

And for folks with an active lifestyle, there will also be a Vans, a retailer that stocks footwear for skate, snowboarding, and surfing enthusiasts, among others.

Wearing out all that trendy shoe leather can be exhausting. But not to worry. A salon called iSpa will be opening at the mall soon. According to South Shore Plaza, “iSpa is a totally unique spa experience that involves a relaxing environment like that of a normal spa but with a technological twist.’’ The release did not go into detail on what exactly a spa with a technological twist is. But, presumably, a shoe-shopper could get a pedicure there so her trendy new footwear would be able to showcase a clean set of heels.

Also set to open in March is a Brazilian steakhouse called Rodizio Grill. The grill’s website includes beauty shots of beef entrees. By the looks of things, those entrees were once encased in enough cowhide for a cobbler to fashion together a pair of snazzy seven-league boots.


Another new store at South Shore Plaza is Expressions, which specializes in urban fashion and which has a focus on high end, quality footwear and apparel for infants to adults with an emphasis on men and women aged 18 – 35., South Shore Plaza said.
