Chris Hughes, the new owner of The New Republic magazine and a cofounder of Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg, spoke at Harvard’s Kennedy School Tuesday. Asked if he’s prepared to lose money for a while, Hughes said yes — sort of. “What’s the definition of ‘a while’?’’ Hughes replied, according to a story posted on the website of the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy. “When I say profitable, I’m not saying we’re going to be making money hand over fist.’’ He went on to say that he equates profitability with “sustainability,’’ but hopes to turn a profit by 2015.
