Chestnut Hill actor David Walton, who just ended a stint on “New Girl’’ and appeared in the Boston-based Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “The Makeover,’’ will star opposite “Good Will Hunting’’ actress Minnie Driver in a pilot based on Nick Hornby’s novel “About a Boy.’’ Driver will play the role of a hippie mother; Toni Collette played the part in the film version of the book. Last we chatted with Walton (inset) in Los Angeles, he was set to star in a sitcom about a firefighter that would have been helmed by Tad Quill, who was responsible for Walton’s now-canceled 2012 sitcom “Bent.’’ The “About a Boy’’ pilot is being produced by Jason Katims, who’s best known for “Friday Night Lights’’ and “Parenthood.’’
