Man found dead in Brockton schools’ parking lot

Brockton police are investigating the death today of a man who was found in the parking lot of a building on Warren Avenue that houses two alternative schools, prosecutors and school officials said.

Police do not believe the death was suspicious and are working to identify the man, a statement from Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said.

The body was discovered around 9 a.m. today by cleaning crews outside the Warren Avenue building, said Jocelyn Meek, spokeswoman for the Brockton schools.

After they were notified of the body, school officials called the families of students who attend the Champion High School and BB Russell Alternative School and asked them to bring their children to Brockton High School.

“We didn’t want the students to be impacted, and we wanted the public safety officers to have a clear space to work,’’ Meek said.

Students from the two alternative schools attended morning classes at the high school but had returned to their normal building by 10 a.m.
