Hiding in dumpster doesn’t work for suspects fleeing police in Peabody

Two teenagers were arrested after being found hiding in a dumpster behind a Peabody function hall Wednesday night after allegedly stealing a car, State Police said.

A person overheard State Police broadcast to patrol cars an alert for a stolen 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser, then observed the stolen car pull into a service station on Route 1 in Peabody. The witness then called State Police after seeing the car’s occupants flee on foot toward Spinelli’s Function Facility, roughly one-10th of a mile up the road.

Troopers shortly thereafter located suspects Corey Bilodeau, 18, of Amesbury and a 17-year-old girl from Haverhill in a dumpster behind Spinelli’s and arrested them at 9:05 p.m.

Bilodeau and the girl, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, were charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Bilodeau was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Both pleaded not guilty at an arraignment this morning in Peabody District Court. They are next due in court May 2. Both were also warned to stay away from the PT Cruiser’s owner for the next 50 days.
