A man charged with committing five rapes boasted of his crimes and proudly wrote in a diary, “Damn, I’m a serial rapist!!!’’ a prosecutor said today at the man’s arraignment.
Tikee Beverly, 37, of Roxbury was arraigned on 13 charges in Suffolk Superior Court.
He sat out of public view, but when asked how he pleaded, said, “Not guilty!’’ in a loud voice.
A prosecutor said Beverly’s alleged crimes were “vile, immoral, reprehensible rapes by a true serial rapist.’’
Trial Magistrate Gary P. Wilson ordered Beverly held on $1 million cash bail.
“It’s quite clear the facts and the circumstances shock the conscience of an individual,’’ Wilson said.
Beverly allegedly committed a string of rapes from Sept. 13 to Feb. 3.
He was on probation from a federal bank robbery sentence at the time. He had been freed from federal prison on May 14, 2011. Authorities said they would be looking at whether he had committed any more crimes.
Beverly was matched to the five crimes by DNA, video surveillance tapes, or both, prosecutors said.
Beverly had already been charged with committing two rapes within a day of each other in Jamaica Plain when he was indicted last week for three more attacks.
He faces charges in two attacks on Washington Street in Jamaica Plain that took place on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, as well as the earlier attacks, on Shirley Street in Dorchester, Kenilworth Street in Roxbury, and Arcadia Park in Dorchester.
While the victims of any crime are urged to call 911 in an emergency, the survivors of sexual violence in Suffolk County can also call the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center’s 24-hour hotline at 800-841-8371.
