Teenager hospitalized, faces trespassing charge after diving into empty pool at stranger’s home

A Westford teenager was hospitalized after apparently diving headfirst into a stranger’s pool with a friend early Monday morning, only to find the pool had no water in it, police said.

Eighteen-year-old Kelsey Gallagher was injured after trying to swim in the pool on North Main Street, Westford Police Captain Victor Neal said. Police responding to the scene found Gallagher breathing but unconscious at the pool’s bottom, Neal said. Gallagher’s friend, Alexis Mcauliffe, 20, allegedly told police the two were on Main Street looking for pools to swim in.

Gallagher, who had facial lacerations and a broken wrist according to a responding officer, was transported to Lowell General Hospital. Neal didn’t know what other injuries she might have.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, Neal said, though nothing was recovered from the scene.

The two are now facing tresspassing charges in Ayer District Court, Neal said. A hearing date has not been set.
