In a sobering speech, Valedictorian Wenzheng Yu, who will attend Harvard in the fall, told his classmates there is no substitution for dedication. “Reach beyond basic requirements…not allow oneself to take shortcuts,” he said, saying if you do, “you jeopardize one’s ability to succeed in the long run.”
-
Though Santoro went to move on in the ceremony, classmates stopped him and took a moment to recognize him for his work. Santoro will leave the job after 42 years in public education.
-
Santoro entered Quincy Public Schools alongside this graduating class, and after 13 years, he would leave along with them. To commemorate the occasion Santoro wore a blue robe, as if a member of the Class of 2013.
