Ben Affleck presented beloved Boston Marathon team Dick Hoyt and Rick Hoyt — a.k.a Team Hoyt — with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The award is named for North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano, who died of cancer in 1993. The Hoyts, who hail from Holland, Mass., have said that because they didn’t get to finish this year’s marathon because of the bombings, they’ll run again in 2014 — which will be the 32d time Dick pushes Rick through the race. “I don’t think you could find two guys more proud to represent the city of Boston,’’ said Dick Hoyt. “Next time you see someone in a wheelchair, or who can’t talk, or walk, or they may talk or walk a little bit different, they are people too, and deserve to be able to live, learn, work, and play. Rick and I want to thank you all.’’ . . . The Boston sports scene was also represented at the awards show when “Saturday Night Live’’
Bill Hader poked fun at the controversy over the Super Bowl ring that Patriots owner Bob Kraft says was pocketed by Vladimir Putin. Hader, who pretended to be the Russian president via satellite, told ESPYs host Jon Hamm, “Of course I stole it. And you know why? Because I can.’’
