Biker seriously injured in Newton crash

A man riding his bicycle was seriously injured today when a car hit him in Newton, police said.

The 55-year-old from Brookline, whose name is not being released, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries, said Newton Police Officer Eric Rosenbaum.

The car collided with the bicyclist at 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Beacon Street and Grant Avenue, Rosenbaum said.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, Rosenbaum said.
