Framingham man hospitalized after home invasion

A 25-year-old Framingham man remains hospitalized after he was shot and stabbed during a violent encounter Friday with three men who had broken into his apartment, Framingham police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital from his neighborhood on 2nd Street for a gunshot wound in his chest and at least one stab wound, a release from the Framingham Police Department said.

The release states the victim’s wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, and the department’s public information officer, Lieutenant Ron Brandolini, said he has not heard about any changes to the man’s condition.

At approximately 11 p.m., the release stated, the victim’s 22-year-old fiancée was inside their apartment at 56A 2nd Street with her two young children, when she heard a knock on her back door. She then opened the door, she saw “three hooded men’’ standing before her with two knives and a gun.

As the men forced their way into her apartment, one of the intruders placed his knife against the woman’s throat, according to Brandolini. The release said the men began screaming, “Where’s the money?’’ and one of the intruders left the other two downstairs while he searched the upstairs floor for money.

The unidentified suspects were described in the release as “a Black male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a mask hiding his face … [with] a squeaky voice’’ and a firearm; a “Hispanic male in his twenties wearing a dark hoodie’’ that was “cinched tight’’ and carrying a knife; and “a male, possibly Hispanic,’’ who was the “shortest of the three’’ and “also had a dark cinched hoodie.’’

According to the release, the victim entered his apartment through the same door the intruders broke into and found the men in the kitchen with his fiancée. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim, according to the release. The victim pulled out a knife to defend himself, according to Brandolini, who said that as he did this, the victim was shot once in the chest by the suspect carrying a firearm.

As the victim’s fiancée fled from the apartment, the victim attempted to follow but was stabbed by one of the assailants on his way out the door, the release said.

Police believe the suspects all ran toward Beaver Terrace Circle.

Brandolini said he did not have any information on whether the victims and the intruders know each other.
