‘Killing Kennedy’ to air near 50th anniversary of assassination

Does the world need another movie about the Kennedys? Absolutely not. Will we watch “Killing Kennedy’’ when it premieres on the National Geographic Channel Nov. 10? Maybe. The movie, based on the book of the same name by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, begins in 1959 and follows the paths of John F. Kennedy and his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, until the tragedy in Dallas four years later. The film stars Rob Lowe as JFK and BU alum Ginnifer Goodwin as Jackie. The network announced the air date Friday, which would have been the couple’s 60th wedding anniversary. Of course, it’s no coincidence that the movie will premiere near the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s death. Judging from the trailer at least, Lowe’s Boston accent isn’t half bad, but he doesn’t look much like the 35th president and we can’t shake the memory of his misbehavior at the 1988 Democratic National Convention in Atlanta, when Lowe was snared in a scandal involving a video of the actor having sex with two women.
