South Dennis man fatally struck by Jeep

Dennis Police have identified the 52-year-old South Dennis man who was struck by a car while crossing the street Saturday night.

Police responded to a call of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Upper County Road and Center Street in South Dennis at 8:35 p.m. Saturday and found Steven Theilman unresponsive and lying in the westbound lane of Upper County Road. An officer administered first aid before Theilman was transported to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.

Preliminary investigation determined that Theilman, accompanied by another male, had been walking northbound on Center Street approaching the intersection of Upper County Road. Witnesses said that Theilman suddenly ran across Upper County Road and was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The vehicle, a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was operated by 28-year-old Demion Bucknor, of Dennis, who immediately stopped and remained at the scene. He has not been charged.
