A tractor-trailer truck carrying glass containers rolled over as it exited Interstate 495 this afternoon, trapping the two 65-year-old occupants of the truck and prompting the closure of the ramp between I-495 South and the Massachusetts Turnpike, State Police said.
The trapped occupants, a male and female, were freed from the truck by the Hopkinton and Westborough fire departments and were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, State Police said.
Preliminary investigation indicated that speed might have been a factor in the rollover, State Police said. Troopers are on scene investigating.
The ramp was closed and could remain impassable for several hours, State Police said. I-495 South remains open and traffic is moving freely. I-495 North is also open, but commuters are experiencing some delays.
State Police are advising drivers to seek alternate routes, if possible.
No further details were immediately available.
