Scores of bottomless Bostonians took to the T on Jan. 12, 2014 for the annual No Pants Subway Ride. The event was created by New York City’s Improv Everywhere in 2002, but has rapidly become an international event.

The soon-to-be-pantless gathered at Pemberton Square, where umbrella-toting organizers handed out instructions and divided the crowd into groups.

It was all about acting casual. If asked about their lack of pants, participants responded with a myriad of funny excuses. They explained that they had no idea why the other riders were pantless.

Some pantless riders traveled inbound while others traveled outbound. Across the station, a participant stopped to pose for pictures.

Participants were constantly moving. They switched from T-line to T-line to attract attention for the stunt.
