A late-season winter storm blanketed much of the Washington-to-Boston corridor Tuesday, with blizzard conditions and strong winds in parts of Massachusetts.

Snow totals in the Bay State may have fallen below pre-storm projections, but areas near Boston still saw nearly a foot of new snow, with Central and Western Massachusetts surpassing that mark.

On Tuesday night, the National Weather Service released an unofficial snowfall map, with observed totals from spotters.

With below freezing temperatures expected overnight, the service also warned Tuesday night of a potentially icy Wednesday morning commute.
