Intense rain, flash flood warnings on the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for various parts of the Cape and the Islands as a storm front has moved east through the region.

NWS meteorologist Bill Simpson said that Martha’s Vineyard and the Upper Cape, from Falmouth over to Hyannis, have received between two and four-and-a-half inches in the course of only a few hours.

“Downtown Falmouth had upwards of two feet of standing rain in the downtown area,” Simpson said. “Many cars were flooded out.”
