Weather Service confirms tornadoes in Maine

The National Weather Service confirmed that two weak tornadoes touched down in remote areas of Maine during Sunday’s storms. Officials said an EF-0 tornado with a maximum speed of 70 miles per hour touched down in Eagle Lake in far northern Maine shortly after 3 p.m. There was no reported injuries or damage to structures. Another EF-0 tornado with a maximum wind speed of 60 miles per hour uprooted or snapped about a dozen trees at 4:30 p.m. in Pleasant Ridge Plantation, in Somerset County. No injuries were reported.
