A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through this evening for several counties in Massachusetts. In addition, a tropical storm warning has been issued for Nantucket Island and for Cape Cod from Provincetown to Chatham.
Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and Middlesex counties are all under the thunderstorm watch, according to the National Weather Service. The watch is in effect until 10 p.m.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop across the region through the evening, and a few storms may become severe with possible damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.
A flash flood warning has also been issued for western Massachusetts and Southwest New Hampshire.
