Flash Flood Warnings Issued Across New England

The Boston office of the National Weather Service and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency are warning of serious flash floods hitting the area this afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for north Providence, southeast Worcester, southwest Norfolk, northwest Bristol, Mass., and north Bristol, Rhode Island for much of the early afternoon. The NWS warned that streets and underpasses in urban areas would be particularly dangerous areas for flooding.

MEMA warned that the flooding would seriously affect roads and could even be life-threatening.

The warnings come as heavy rains move into the region, falling at rates as high as three inches per hour in some areas. Flooding has already started in some areas, leading to dangerous driving conditions and some incredible photos.
