Rapid changes in weather throughout the weekend

Overall, the upcoming weekend looks pretty nice. Although we will have some rain Saturday, I don’t expect it to rain the entire day. The sun will even break through the clouds in the afternoon and temperatures will be mild. Sunday will be drier with sunshine. Cold weather returns to start the workweek, but is followed by springlike temperatures and sunshine to end the first full week of March.

The system causing all the severe weather to our south will move through the region during the overnight and into Saturday afternoon. This will bring a round of rain showers and even the chance of some thunder to the region. Late tonight, when the precipitation begins, well north and west of Boston, it be in the form of some snow and sleet. Slippery roads could develop in those areas late tonight. For the rest of us, it will be dry this evening so no need to worry about getting wet till well after midnight.

When you get up, (I assume you’ll be up by 8 A.M.) there will be rain and even thundershowers moving through the area. Temperatures will be rising through the 40s and heading to the lower 50s in southern areas. During the afternoon, the rain will end and I expect the sun to try to make an appearance. We will even see a few hours of sunshine for the second part of Saturday.

Saturday night

Skies will clear and it will be a bit chilly as temperatures fall to the 20s and lower 30s across the area. Most of the snow in eastern sections of the State should be gone by tomorrow night. If you have more than 3 or 4 inches on the ground right now, it might take a few more days to melt all the snow.
Sunday will be a fine early March day with lots of sunshine and typically cool temperatures. There is the outside chance of a quick shower of rain in the middle of the day, but not everyone will see this. Temperatures will be in the lower and middle 40s.

Monday and Tuesday.

Dry and cool weather with no storms. Temperatures actually a bit cool remaining in the 30s, something we have seen very little of this winter. It turns mild for the rest of the week.

Gardening tip of the week.

I love African violets and primrose. Learn how to care for these great flowering plants.
