Friday’s weather is definitely the best day of the next three, and if you’re fortunate enough to be able to work from home or take an early afternoon off, I highly recommend getting outside. Today’s highs will reach near 60 in many places, making for fantastic weather to end the work week.

The actual weekend is about a 50/50 split. Saturday is the best day of the two, and temperatures will be much milder Saturday than Sunday.

A low pressure area is going to become quite strong as it moves north of the region Sunday.  This will leave us on the cold side of the storm with stronger winds and lowering temperatures on Sunday, with a few showers possible in some parts of the region.

If you’re playing soccer, softball, football, or golf…

Saturday fields will be dry. Expect an increase in clouds during the afternoon with mild temperatures in the 50s. Any showers Saturday should hold off until late in the day or at night—if they happen at all. Expect colder weather Sunday with wet fields possible in some areas.

If you’re raking and gardening…

Saturday is a great day for fall clean-up and putting away garden supplies. Look for colder, damp weather Sunday, making it more difficult to be in the yard.

If you’re hiking or running…

No weather issues Saturday make it a great day for a long run or hike. Showers are possible in southern New England on Sunday. Look for colder readings, too.

If you’re running errands…

Sunday is the day to do errands. Take Saturday to enjoy being outside.

If you’re going to an outdoor event…

Any outdoor event will happen with full cooperation from the weather Saturday. Sunday is a different story with cool, raw conditions.

I will be updating the forecast on Twitter @growingwisdom throughout the weekend.
