The Boston skyline was dusted with pink early Thursday as the sun rose, but a few hours later the city’s landmarks had been obscured by snow.

The National Weather Service shared a timelapse of the Longfellow Bridge over the Charles River between 6:42 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. to show the arrival of the major snowstorm that is expected to bring heavy snowfall and near blizzard conditions to parts of Massachusetts.

In the video, the bridge quickly becomes shrouded by snow.

“Snapshot of winter weather conditions in #Boston this morning,” forecasters wrote.

By 11 a.m. the same camera was covered in snow.
