Map: Some areas of eastern Massachusetts got 8 inches of snow early this week

Southeastern Massachusetts was hit the hardest.

If you live just north of Boston, you may be surprised to hear that residents just south of the city got hit with 5-8 inches of snow Monday night into Tuesday.

Snowfall totals increased drastically from northwest to southeast, with Lexington receiving only 0.8 inches to Kingston’s 8, according to a snowfall map put out by the National Weather Service on Tuesday night.

A bit more snow is expected early Friday, with most of the state looking at 1-2 inches.
