The summer warmth is forecast to continue Thursday in Massachusetts, with some scattered showers and thunderstorms expected during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Service meteorologists say most of the Bay State should see temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s.

“Partly sunny skies expected today, although there will be more clouds than yesterday with mostly cloudy periods especially across northern Massachusetts,” they wrote.

According to the service’s seven-day forecast for Boston, the city is expected to see a high of 84, and there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m, that could produce heavy rain and gusty winds.

Some isolated severe storms could occur through Friday, but the service is predicting they won’t be widespread.
