Massachusetts is forecast to see rain showers — and potentially some rumbling thunder — on Tuesday.

National Weather Service meteorologists are predicting the rain will reach Boston in the afternoon and evening.

“Cloudy skies, cooler temperatures, and showers will be the rule as the day progresses,” the service said. “Scattered showers will linger overnight as the low exits the region.”

According to the service’s seven-day forecast for Boston, the chance of showers is most likely between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m., and the city could see more rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday morning.
