Enjoy the bearable heat and humidity while you can.

The National Weather Service is forecasting Massachusetts will see the return of “excessive heat” on Thursday, with the humidity expected to make it feel close to 100 degrees in parts of the state.

“A heat advisory may be needed for most areas Thursday,” the service said.

In addition to the “near record” heat, the service is forecasting that a few strong-to-severe thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and evening as a cold front crosses the region.

In Boston, the service predicts the chance of rain showers and a thunderstorm are likely between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.

More seasonable temperatures will return Friday before fall weather makes an appearance with below normal temperatures over the weekend, according to the service.
