What to know about the severe thunderstorms expected Saturday afternoon

There's a chance of "ping-pong ball" hail.

(National Weather Service)

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch across southern New England on Saturday, expecting afternoon storms to bring in strong winds, heavy downpours, and lightning.

Forecasters predict winds could gust up to 70 miles per hour, and that hail is possible. Look to these forecasts to see if your town is expecting rain.

The severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m.
