Local forecasters are predicting that much of the state could see temperatures in the high-60s and into the mid-70s by the middle of next week.

For Thursday, the National Weather Service predicted a sunny, dry day.

“Well into the 60s, near 70!” the service said on Twitter.

“Talk about a pattern change!” the service said in a separate tweet. “Expect seasonable temps Wednesday before highs in the 60s make an appearance in the forecast late week. A few areas may make a run at 70 degrees!”

Here’s what other local meteorologists said about the warmup:

Harvey Leonard, WCVB: ‘The next 7 days….could be near record-breaking warmth’

A.J. Burnett, WCVB: ‘Break out your bell bottoms, velvet sport coats, tube tops and the disco ball…we’re going back to the 70s this weekend!’

Shiri Spear, Boston 25: ‘Can I get a “heck yeah” for the weekend forecast!’

Chris Lambert, 7 News: ‘Mild times ahead… Enjoy it!’

Cindy Fitzgibbon, WCVB: ‘NEAR RECORD WARMTH ON THE WAY’

Zack Green, WBZ: ‘This is the beginning of a very mild stretch’
