Buckle up, Boston! The first major winter storm of the year arrives Wednesday

Buckle up, Boston! The first major winter storm of the year, set to arrive Wednesday night and continue into Thursday, is expected to dump 8-12 inches of snow across the city.

Upwards of a foot of accumulation is expected south of the Mass. Pike, with the heaviest bands forecast to drop 18 inches or more.

Temperatures on Wednesday morning will climb out of overnight lows in the teens to balmy highs in the mid 20s during the day. The snow should start falling by the evening.
