Dangerous Wind Chills Fri-Sat across southern New England. Isolated power outages possible due to strong winds. A few isolated snow squalls possible late tonight into early Friday, but we are not sure if they will hold together as they move in. #mawx #ctwx #riwx pic.twitter.com/37KJMHyoCs

[Strong Winds Fri & Fri night] In addition to the dangerously cold wind chills, strong winds will accompany the arctic airmass. Northwest wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph are expected Fri into Fri night. Any power outages would be a concern given the dangerous cold! pic.twitter.com/nB9VuOFKLp

The arctic front is bringing much colder air to the region, but warmer air is on the horizon by Sunday! pic.twitter.com/TsDikRVN2X

[Historic Arctic Outbreak Feb 13-14 2016] The dangerously cold airmass that will invade the region Fri into early Sat will be the coldest temps seen in #SNE since Feb 13-14 2016. Worcester dropped to -16 & Boston fell to -9; which were the coldest temps at both sites since 1957! pic.twitter.com/3DJXHqbgnB

Dashing out the door this morning, even just commuting to the office & home, definitely worth throwing heavy cold weather gear in the back seat – we just never know when we're unexpectedly out longer than we planned. Isolated power outages will happen today due to cold & wind. pic.twitter.com/ckwygm9yBI

Not much change to the expected progression of wind chill I shared yesterday. Frostbite possible in 30 minutes or less of exposed skin by tonight (that includes ear tips, finger tips and nose tips!), so covering up is essential. Worst time for Boston Metro is Fri 6p to Sat 11a. pic.twitter.com/94ByIZouRq

The wind chill Saturday will start dangerous for most of New England in the morning. By 11am, most of Southern New England is out of the danger zone – that improvement expands to Central New England by lunchtime…but it'll still be awfully cold! pic.twitter.com/nMzcJ7l41j

I've zoomed into the Boston area Saturday 7am for a reason! Northern suburbs to be close to -10°F which is fun for science aficionados because -10° or colder is enough with this dry air for boiling water to turn instantly to snow. Just be careful where you're tossing that water!! pic.twitter.com/G9ugSr5n7F

One aspect of this type of air that tends to be overlooked is the exceptionally dry nature. By late Friday, Fri night and Saturday the air will take lots of moisture from the skin and lips. Hydration is important…and we'll get lots of little static electricity shocks, too! 🙂 pic.twitter.com/AyMWrEL5MA

Space heater safety is so important on nights like this weekend – please be sure to share these tips if you know someone who uses a space heater. Any fire is terrible, but tonight would be horrific to fight a fire in with the temperatures and wind expected. pic.twitter.com/1Fvp6ErBB8
